Wolves Erase 20-Point Deficit in 139-131 Comeback Win Over Squadron

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Wolves erased a 20-point deficit in a 139-131 comeback win over the Birmingham Squadron on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Arena. 

Craig Randall II led Iowa (9-22) with 30 points and Luka Garza, who suited up in Wells Fargo Arena for the first time since Jan. 15, had 29 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. All five starters for Iowa scored in double figures with Matt Lewis (17), Jordan Bohannon (15) and Emmanuel Mudiay (14) rounding out the starting five. Mudiay equaled his season high in assists with 11.

The Wolves scorched the nets with 22 three-pointers as a team and four Wolves made four or more threes. Off the bench, Matt Ryan scored 18 points while D.J. Carton and Jordy Tshimanga each scored eight points. Bohannon, Lewis and Randall each made five threes and Ryan knocked down four.

With 7:58 left in the fourth, Tshiminaga’s putback gave Iowa its first lead of the game, 109-108, and forced Birmingham to call a timeout. Iowa held onto the lead the rest of the game to split the season series with Birmingham (10-21).

Dereon Seabron posted a triple-double for the Squadron with 21 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds. Kelan Martin finished with a team-high 26 points. Birmingham set a franchise record with 75 first-half points, leading 75-57 at halftime. 

Iowa wraps up the season Saturday night against the Lakeland Magic at 7 p.m. CT.
