Wolves Drop Regular Season Finale to Magic, 133-121

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Wolves lost its regular season finale to the Lakeland Magic, 133-121, on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena in front of a season-high 7,155 fans on Fan Appreciation Night.
Luka Garza had a monster game for Iowa (9-23) with a career-high 47 points to go with 15 rebounds.
Coming off the bench, Jay Scrubb led Lakeland (18-14) with 24 points and three others, Robert Baker, Au’Diese Toney and Zavier Simpson each scored 20 points.
Garza scored the first points of the night with a 3-point play and Craig Randall II hit a three-pointer to put the Wolves up 8-4. The Magic answered with 10 straight points as they never relinquished the lead and led by 25 at one point in the game.
Iowa battled back in the fourth quarter cutting the deficit to 10 points with D.J. Carton’s three-point play at the 9:18 mark. Nuni Omot followed with a three-pointer and kept the lead in double digits the rest of the way.
Matt Ryan had 17 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for the Wolves. Carton finished with 16 points. Emmanuel Mudiay (14) and Matt Lewis (10) rounded out the double-digit scorers.
Iowa finished with a 14-9 overall record at home in 2022-23.
