WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Iowa Wolves dropped the opening contest of a five-game road trip on Monday night losing to the Westchester Knicks, 126-105.
It was back-and-forth through the first three quarters of play before Westchester (10-5) turned a one-point lead into a seven-point advantage less than two minutes into the fourth quarter. Iowa (2-10) called timeout but couldn’t recover from the slow fourth-quarter start as the Knicks cruised to their ninth win in the past 11 regular season games.
Trevor Keels led the Wolves with 30 points behind a 6-of-12 (50%) shooting night from three. Tristen Newton was next with 27 points and added six assists and five rebounds. Nojel Eastern nearly finished with a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high eight assists. Martez Brown made his first career start and pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds while El Ellis came off the bench and finished with 15 points, six assists and five rebounds.
Six Knicks scored in double figures highlighted by center Moses Brown who posted monster numbers with a season-best 30 points and a game-high 21 rebounds.
Westchester won its second-straight Winter Showcase Cup Championship back in December in Orlando, Fla.
Iowa’s road trip continues with games at the Maine Celtics on Wednesday and Friday of this week. Wednesday’s game will be streamed on ESPN+.
