Wolves Acquire Bezhanishvili From Spurs

The Iowa Wolves announced today that the team has acquired forward Giorgi Bezhanishvili from the Austin Spurs in exchange for the Wolves’ first round pick in the 2024 NBA G League Draft. Bezhanishvili will wear No. 27 and be available for Iowa’s game tonight at the G League Ignite.

Bezhanishvili (jor-jee be-SHON-ish-vil-ee), 6-9, last played in the G League in 2022-23, appearing in 32 games (11 starts) with the College Park Skyhawks. He averaged 9.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game and shot 60.1% from the field. The Skyhawks traded his returning players rights to the Spurs prior to this season. Most recently, Bezhanishvili was with the Taishin Dreamers in the Korean Basketball League, appearing in five games, averaging 15.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.

Bezhanishvili appeared in 31 games (three starts) with Grand Rapids Gold during the 2021-22 season, averaging 8.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game and shot 58.5 percent from the floor.

Bezhanishvili played three collegiate seasons for the University of Illinois, appearing in 95 career games (57 starts), averaging 8.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50.7 from the floor.
