SALT LAKE CITY – In a back-and-forth game that featured 13 lead changes and eight ties, the Salt Lake City Stars edged the Iowa Wolves, 113-109, on Monday night at Bruin Arena.

Iowa (9-8) led by three, 109-106, with 2:25 left in the game after Chris Silva converted a three-point play. But the Wolves were held scoreless the rest of the way as Xavier Sneed knocked down a jumper and Jared Wilson-Frame drilled a dagger three with the shot clock running down and the game clock at 40.6. It was just the second three of the game for Wilson-Frame, but it gave Salt Lake City (5-14) the lead for good.

On Iowa’s next possession Vincent Edwards missed a three and the Wolves were forced to foul Carsen Edwards. Edwards knocked down both free throws to give him a game-high 38 points. He made eight three-pointers in the game. For the Stars, Yoeli Childs was next with 22 points while Marques Bolden added 18 and Wilson-Frame finished with 14.

After Edwards’ pair of free throws, Iowa still had a chance, but Leandro Bolmaro’s three was off the mark as Salt Lake rebounded the miss and ran out the clock.

Bolmaro, Edwards and Chris Silva each scored 17 points for Iowa. In his second game with the Wolves, Melvin Frazier Jr. started and had 15 points. Brian Bowen II, who rejoined Iowa today after this second Team USA stint this season, came off the bench to score 15. Jordy Tshimanga was the other Wolve in double digits with 10 points.

Salt Lake avenged its loss at Iowa on Feb. 23 in the last game for each team before tonight.

The two teams will close out their regular season series Wednesday at Bruin Arena. Tipoff Wednesday is set for 8 p.m. CT and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
