Iowa Wolves Defeat Texas Legends in Fourth Quarter Comeback

The Iowa Wolves defeated the Texas Legends 110-103 in a late fourth quarter comeback on Friday night.  

The Wolves (19-14) started the first quarter with very little energy, allowing the Legends (11-22) to go on an early 12-0 run. Iowa shot 48% from the field and were only 1-for-9 from three. The Wolves were eventually close to climbing back from the deficit, ending the quarter down 33-29. Enrique Freeman tallied 12 points and four rebounds. 

The Wolves were held to 14 points in the second quarter, shooting just 27.3% from the field and 16.7% from three. Iowa was also out-rebounded 17-11 Jules Bernard tallied seven points this quarter, the most of any Wolves player. The Wolves headed into the third quarter down 54-43.  

Iowa had momentum in the early third quarter, finally finding their stride. They were able to tie the game at 66, before allowing Texas to go on a 14-0 run. They ended the third down 88-73. Jalen Crutcher had 16 points in the quarter, shooting 5-for-8 from three.  

The Wolves opened the floodgates in the fourth quarter, scoring 37 points and holding Texas to just 15. They finally gained the lead with three minutes left in the fourth, and were able to maintain it, ending the game up by seven. They shot 52.4% from the field in the fourth, compared to Texas’ 30%. Rocco Zikarsky led the scoring for the Wolves, tallying 13 points and four rebounds.  

Jules Bernard ended the night with 29 points for Iowa. Minnesota Timberwolves two-ways Rocco Zikarsky and Enrique Freeman both had double-doubles. Zikarsky had 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 blocks, while Freeman had 22 points and 11 rebounds. Jalen Crutcher also added 24 points.  

The Legends were led by Dalano Banton with 19 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. He was joined by Tyler Smith, who had a double-double off the bench with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jamarion Sharp also had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.  

The Wolves close out their series against the Texas Legends on Sunday at 3:30 PM before heading back to Casey’s Center to play their final two games of the regular season against the Oklahoma City Blue.
