By Iowa Wolves Staff /September 19, 2023

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Wolves and Athene announced today that a record number of students are registered for the fall session of Read to Achieve. Administrators, teachers, and schools signed up more than 8,500 students for the fall session of Read to Achieve, which is in its third year. Now open for students in kindergarten through eighth grade, the Iowa Wolves and Athene are excited to reward more students for accomplishing their reading goals.

"The growth in our Read to Achieve program presented by Athene has been incredible since we started it in 2021,” said Chip Albright, Iowa Wolves Vice President of Marketing. “We continue to break enrollment records and are excited to reward these students with some fun at a professional basketball game, Northern Lights Pizza and fun swag for all their hard work."

“Athene is proud to partner with the Iowa Wolves’ Read to Achieve program for the third consecutive year,” said Amanda Carstens Steward, Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing at Athene. “Education is a core piece of the Athene Charitable Foundation’s mission, and we’re thrilled with the significant growth of this year’s program allowing us to reach a broader student population and encourage them to commit to reading on their education journeys.”

Students who read 500 or more minutes in school or at home will be rewarded with an Iowa Wolves prize pack that includes a bookmark, drawstring backpack and two free tickets to an Iowa Wolves home game during the 2023-24 season.

The school with the highest percentage of students to complete the challenge will receive the Read to Achieve trophy, a pizza party for the school hosted by Northern Lights Pizza and an appearance by Iowa's favorite mascot, Alpha.

The Iowa Wolves and Athene look forward to continuing a love for reading with students. The winter session of Read to Achieve will start Dec. 11 with registration for teachers, schools and administrators opening Nov. 13.
