Iowa Wolves Acquire Returning Rights to Derrick Alston Jr.

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Wolves announced today that the team has acquired the returning player rights to guard Derrick Alston Jr. from the Salt Lake City Stars in exchange for the returning player rights to guard Isaiah Miller.
Alston Jr., 6-9, appeared in 29 NBA G League games with Salt Lake City in 2021-22, averaging 16.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He played in five games with the Dallas Mavericks during the 2022 NBA Summer League, averaging 9.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.
Alston Jr., played five collegiate seasons for Boise State University and earned All-Mountain West honors three times, including first team honors his final season in 2020-21. His father, Derrick Alston Sr., was drafted No. 33 overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and played two seasons in the NBA and 16 seasons overseas.
Miller appeared in all 32 games for the Wolves last season, averaging 12.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
