Iowa Begins Regular Season At Mexico City on Friday Night

MEXICO CITY – The Iowa Wolves begin the regular season portion of their schedule visiting the Mexico City Capitaines on Friday night for the first of two games this weekend between the teams. Friday’s game will tip at 8 p.m. CT and be streamed on NBAGLeague.com. The teams play again on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. and that game will be streamed on the Roku channel. Records reset for teams for the regular season portion of the NBA G League slate.

Iowa (0-0) is ready for the regular season after finishing a successful Tip-Off Tournament portion of their schedule going 12-4, secured a spot in the Showcase Cup Championship and claimed the central division title. Sioux Falls edged Iowa, 117-104, in the Showcase semifinals last Saturday in Orlando in the third meeting already between the two central division foes. Minnesota assignee Leonard Miller led the Wolves in the loss with 34 points. Miller was selected to the All-Showcase Team after his performance in the team’s two games in Orlando.

Mexico City (0-0) went 9-7 in the Tip-Off Tournament including splitting their games in Orlando. The Capitanes edged the Remix City Remix, 99-96, before the Wisconsin Herd edged them, 100-96. Veteran Trey Burke is the leading scorer for Mexico City, averaging 21.4 points per game. 

Iowa finishes this road trip on New Year’s Day playing at the Austin Spurs at 7 p.m. CT. on ESPN+. The Wolves return home on Jan. 4 hosting the Santa Cruz Warriors at 6:30 p.m. CT.
