Bouyea’s Three at the Buzzer Sends Skyforce Past Wolves, 157-156

DES MOINES, Iowa – Jamaree Bouyea’s three-pointer at the buzzer gave the Sioux Falls Skyforce a 157-156 comeback win over the Iowa Wolves on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. 

Sioux Falls (12-3) and Iowa (3-13) put on a high-scoring affair for the 4,439 fans in attendance with each team scoring their season high. Each team had 50-point quarters with Iowa’s coming in the first quarter and Sioux Falls’ coming in the fourth. The highly entertaining game featured 10 lead changes with eight coming in the final three minutes of regulation.

Javonte Cooke poured in a career-high 41 points to lead the Wolves while Alondes Williams scored 39 to lead the Skyforce. 

Lance Stephenson, who finished with 22 points, hit a three to put Iowa up 156-154 with 0.8 seconds left. After a reset by Sioux Falls to put the ball at halfcourt, RJ Hampton inbounded the ball to Bouyea who buried the buzzer beater from well past the three-point arc straight away from the hoop. Bouyea finished with 20 points.

Minnesota assignment players Josh Minott and Leonard Miller scored 23 and 21 points, respectively with Tyrese Martin rounding out the Wolves’ starting five with 22 points. 

Rounding out double-figure scorers for Sioux Falls were Hampton with 27 points off the bench and Justin Champagnie with 22 and Caleb Daniels had 19. 

The teams will play again Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. game for Iowa’s annual Education Day Game.
