Iowa Wolves to Hold Public Naming Contest for New Mascot

Des Moines, IA (August 10, 2017) The Iowa Wolves announced today the team will hold a public vote to decide the name of the team’s new mascot for the upcoming season. Fans may choose from four predetermined names: Howl, Alpha, Timber and Winter.

“We’re excited to have our fans join us in this process and help us name the mascot that will be an integral part of our fan experience for years to come,” said Iowa Wolves President of Business Operations Ryan Grant. “As an organization, we’re trying to find new and unique ways to engage with our community and this is the perfect chance to continue building that relationship.”

Season ticket holders will receive the first opportunity to vote for their favorite name, beginning Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Voting will open to the public on Thursday, August 10 at 9:00 a.m. and will run through Sunday, August 20 at 9:00 p.m.

Fans may cast their vote online at https://iawolves.formstack.com/forms/mascotvote.

The Wolves will also hold a unique, in-person voting opportunity at the Iowa State Fair. Fans may cast their vote at the Iowa Wolves’ booth, located in the Thrill Zone on the southwest side of the fairgrounds. Voting will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day of the fair, beginning Thursday, August 10 and ending Sunday, August 20.

The team will hold an unveiling event and announce the mascot name on a date to be determined later.
