ENERGY WIN STREAK HITS 5 WITH WIN OVER OKLAHOMA CITY
Des Moines, Iowa – The Iowa Energy (15-12) won 104-103 over the Oklahoma City Blue (17-12) Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Energy were led by Chris Allen with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Memphis Grizzlies assignee Russ Smith added 22 points and 5 rebounds.
After an early lead by the Blue, the Energy took control of the first quarter. Chris Allen led the Energy with eight first quarter points to help give the Energy a ten-point advantage heading into the second quarter.
The Blue were able to put together a comeback in the second quarter, outscoring the Energy 29-21 to pull within two points at halftime. Josh Huestis and Semaj Christon led the Blue comeback with six points each. Allen continued to be hot for the Energy with nine-second quarter points for the Energy. Iowa led 43-41 heading into halftime.
It was a close third quarter coming out of halftime with the teams exchanging the lead four times. The Blue pulled out to a quick 12-point lead during the quarter, but the Energy were able to fight back and regain the lead heading into the fourth, leading 74-72.
It was an exciting and close fourth quarter. The teams exchanged the lead six times during the quarter. Iowa led by three points with :13.8 left in the game. Two late free-throws by Ferrakohn Hall helped seal the deal for the Energy as they would go on to win 104-103 despite a late three-pointer at the buzzer by the Blue.
The Energy travel to Maine this Thursday before coming home to play Saturday at 7pm.
