ENERGY WIN STREAK HITS 6 WITH WIN OVER MAINE
Portland, ME – The Iowa Energy (16-12) won 101-96 over the Maine Red Claws (18-10) Thursday night at the Portland Expo.
The Energy were led by Damien Wilkins with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Chris Allen added 21 points off the bench and Memphis Grizzlies assignee Jarnell Stokes added a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Iowa opened up a quick first quarter lead over the sluggish Red Claws. The Energy used the three-point line to help build the lead with four threes. Wilkins led the Energy with 14 points in the quarter. Iowa held a 34-17 advantage heading into the second quarter.
The Energy continued to control the game in the second quarter. They opened up a 23-point lead midway through the quarter over the Red Claws. Wilkins and Diante Garrett added five more points for the Energy. Iowa held a 57-41 halftime lead.
Maine was able to cut into the Energy lead during the third quarter. The Red Claws started out on an 11-2 run to begin the quarter. The lead was cut down to just two points in the closing minutes of the quarter before Iowa was able to increase it back to seven. Maine outscored the Energy 29-20 led by Phil Pressey with 13 points in the third for Maine.
The Energy were able to maintain the lead throughout the fourth quarter, led by Allen with 11 points in the fourth to help hold off the Red Claws 101-96.
