Wolves A to Z Guide

Looking for an affordable, family-friendly, and fun experience during the winter in Des Moines? Come downtown to Wells Fargo Arena to watch the Iowa Wolves, the NBA G League franchise of the Minnesota Timberwolves! The Wolves offer many affordably priced ticket options that put fans up close to the action of elite professional basketball featuring talented players on the cusp of the NBA! Iowa's 2024-25 season schedule will be announced at a later date with single game tickets for the 2024-25 season on sale at a date after the release of the schedule.

Alpha, team mascot requests – Alpha debuted in 2017 at the start of the Iowa Wolves as the NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves. During the season, Iowa’s favorite mascot is busy all winter inside Wells Fargo Arena, roaming the basketball court and up in the stands of Wells Fargo entertaining fans of all ages! Outside of Wolves home games, Alpha enjoys making community and event appearances across Greater Des Moines and central Iowa. Animals - Properly identified service animals with visible credentials are permitted in Wells Fargo Arena. The arena is open to all dogs with the signing of a waiver on any "Dog Days" promotional dates. 

Bag Policy - Wells Fargo Arena has implemented a clear bag policy for all events. A maximum clear bag the size of 12"x6"x12" is permitted. Exceptions will be made for medical, family, or childcare bags or small clutches no larger than 4.5"x 6.5". To view Wells Fargo Arena policies and FAQ visit here

Banners and Signs - Banners and signs are permitted if they do not block the view of others, interfere with the game, contain advertising of any form, present a safety hazard, or contain political or obscene material. Banners may not be affixed with any type of material that is permanent in nature or that alters the facility in any manner. Poles and sticks are prohibited. Building management reserves the right to remove any banner or sign.  

Basketballs – Basketballs are allowed inside Wells Fargo Arena.   

Broadcast – TV and Web Stream – All Iowa Wolves home and road games are broadcast on online via iawolves.com or the NBA G League's YouTube page. In addition select games are streamed on ESPN+. Select home or away games are broadcast nationally on NBA TV or on an ESPN Network.

Children Tickets – Children aged two and under do not require a ticket for Iowa Wolves games. However, they must sit on the lap of a parent or guardian. 

Digital Tickets – Starting with the 2021-22 season, the Iowa Wolves moved to a digital ticket system. Digital ticketing allows for contactless arena entry, user-friendly account management, ticket transfer capabilities right from your smartphone or web browser, and a more responsible environmental footprint. Directions to Wells Fargo Arena  

From Interstate 35 from the North: 

Follow I-235 West into Downtown Des Moines and take the Third Street Exit to the Iowa Events Center. 

From Interstate 35 from the South: 

Merge onto I-235 East exit and travel east towards Downtown Des Moines. Take the downtown exit and proceed to the Third Street exit. 

From Interstate 80 from the East: 

Headed west on I-80, take the I-235 West exit and continue towards Downtown Des Moines. Take the 3rd Street exit (Downtown Des Moines) and go south to the Iowa Events Center complex. Parking is available on-site, with additional street and ramp parking within walking distance. 

From Interstate 80 from the West: 

Headed east on I-80, take the I-235 East exit and continue towards Downtown Des Moines. Take the Iowa Events Center Exit (Third Street) and turn right. Parking is available on-site, with additional street and ramp parking within walking distance of our complex. 

Donation Requests – All donation requests must be submitted online via this link. Requests must be submitted at least 30 days before any event that an item may be donated for. All requests will be reviewed, and a decision will be emailed back to the requestor. Fund raising through group tickets are available. Call 515-564-8550 to speak with an Iowa Wolves representative

Doors Open – Wells Fargo Arena doors open 60 minutes prior to tipoff for Wolves’ games. 

Fan Services – Iowa Wolves’ fan services desk is located on the main concourse of Wells Fargo Arena outside of section 124. 

Firearms – Firearms are prohibited inside Wells Fargo Arena. 

First Aid - The First Aid Station at Wells Fargo Arena is located on the main concourse behind section 113. In the event of an emergency, please go to the first available officer or staff member for assistance. 

Food & Beverage – Outside food and drink is prohibited at Wells Fargo Arena. The Wells Fargo Arena’s concession stands offer a wide range of food and drink options. All stands are cashless with the exception of the Exile Beer stand and the Dip N Pop stand. Guests can purchase gift cards at the Exile stand with cash, place increments of $20 on the cards and then use the cards at all other concession stands inside Wells Fargo Arena. 

Front Office – The Iowa Wolves front office is located inside the south entrance of Wells Fargo Arena next to the main WFA Ticket office. The front office is open by appointment only by calling 515-564-8550. 

Group Tickets – Call 515-564-8550 to speak with an Iowa Wolves representative.  

Location – All Iowa Wolves home games are played at Wells Fargo Arena (730 Third Street Des Moines, IA 50309) 

Lost and Found - During a game, you may inquire about lost or found items at the Wells Fargo Arena Guest Services office location behind section 107. For inquiries following a game, please call 515-564-8000 (option 9) during normal business hours. 

Media – During the season, media members should submit credential requests 48 hours in advance of home game planning to attend to John Meyer Media Relations Specialist john.meyer@iawolves.com

Mother’s Room – A mother’s room is located in the First Aid Station room at Wells Fargo Arena which is located on the main concourse behind section 113. 

National Anthem – Potential national anthem singers must submit a video of a prior/recent national anthem performance to randi.burrell@iawolves.com.  

Parking - The main arena parking lot is located between 3rd St. and 5th St., with an entrance off each street. The main lot is northwest of the north entrance for Wells Fargo Arena. The parking lot is first come first serve and costs $12 per car. Metered street parking is available outside WFA, and Sundays metered parking is free in downtown Des Moines.  The City of Des Moines recently started using the ParkDSM app for street parking.

Security - Walk-through metal detectors are used Iowa Wolves games at Wells Fargo Arena. Cell phones, keys, and RFID wallets will need to be removed and placed in a bowl before walking through the metal detectors. These procedures are not a response to any specific threat, but rather recommendations made by OVG360 and security partner CSC with consultation from local law enforcement officials and Polk County. Fans are encouraged to allow for extra time to enter Wells Fargo Arena and to leave non-essential items at home. 

Sensory Inclusive – Wells Fargo Arena as part of the Iowa Events Center is Sensory Inclusive™ certified. Our objective is to provide an inclusive and seamless experience for all guests including those with sensory needs. Wells Fargo Arena’s Sensory Room sponsored by Please Pass the Love is located on the main concourse behind section 119. Sensory bags are available for checkout in two locations: inside the Wells Fargo Arena Guest Services, which is located near the north entrance of the arena. In addition, bags are available at the Iowa Events Center Main Office, which is in the skywalks between the Community Choice Convention Center and Wells Fargo Arena. 

Smoking - Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted in all public areas of Wells Fargo Arena including the arena and concourses. Designated outdoor smoking areas are located on the north and south sides of Wells Fargo Arena.

Strollers – Strollers are not allowed inside Wells Fargo Arena.

Team Store – The Iowa Wolves is located on the main concourse of Wells Fargo Arena outside of section 124. The Wolves’ Team Store is cashless. 

Umbrellas – Umbrellas are not allowed inside Wells Fargo Arena but can be checked in at the Wells Fargo Arena Guest Services office location behind section 107. 

Wolves High School Hoops Series – The Iowa Wolves offer select availability for high schools to host basketball games on the court of Wells Fargo Arena. Activities Directors or head coaches call the Wolves office at 515-564-8550 if interested in the Wolves' High School Hoops Series.
