ENERGY GM CHRIS MAKRIS ACCEPTS EXPANDED ROLE WITH MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
(April 24, 2017) Des Moines, IA – Iowa Energy General Manager Chris Makris, who has been with the franchise since its inception in 2007, has accepted an expanded role in the front office of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Makris guided the Energy to the 2011 NBA D-League Championship as well as four division titles. During his tenure, 18 Iowa Energy players were called up to the NBA including current Memphis Grizzlies players Wayne Selden and James Ennis. In total, 51 players with NBA regular season experience played for the Energy over Makris’ career.
“I want to thank the Iowa Energy owners, specifically Jed Kaplan and Jerry Crawford, for giving me an opportunity to work for this great franchise. The fans in Iowa are amazing, and I am excited to watch the franchise continue to grow under new leadership,” said Makris. “This is bittersweet for me. There were a lot of great memories over the past ten seasons, and I will never forget how special those were.”
Makris will conclude his duties with the Energy on April 30th.
