Energy Fan Fest Announced for Nov. 5

Official Release | October 27, 2016

Des Moines, IA (October 26, 2016) – To tip off the 2016-17 season, the Iowa Energy will host Energy Fan Fest on Saturday, Nov. 5.  Fan Fest will be highlighted by a preseason exhibition game against the Windy City Bulls tipping off at 11 a.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.  Doors will open at 10 a.m. with free admission and free parking for all fans.

The family-friendly event will feature face painting, a balloon artist and bounce houses for the kids.  Fans will also have the opportunity to watch the Iowa Energy in action for the first time this season.  Fans can meet Surge, the High Voltage Dancers and meet the entire Iowa Energy roster for autographs!

Season tickets and flex plans for the 2016-17 season will be offered to fans at a special rate as part of a one day promotion.

First-year head coach Matt Woodley will make his 2016-17 debut for the Energy after spending two years as an assistant and associate head coach for the team.  Woodley graduated from Drake University in 2000 after starting 83 games over three seasons during his career.

It also marks the Windy City Bulls first public appearance in team history.  The Windy City Bulls were purchased by the Chicago Bulls in the off-season, becoming the team’s first-ever affiliate while expanding the D-League to an all-time high, 22 teams.

Nate Loenser, a Cedar Falls, Iowa, native and Iowa State graduate, was announced head coach for Windy City earlier this year.  Loenser served as Iowa State’s Director of Player Development for two seasons, including the Cyclone’s Sweet 16 run in 2014 under Fred Hoiberg.  In 2015-16, Loenser served as the video coordinator for the Chicago Bulls.
